This engine closely resembles my hallowed 1990 BMW 325i’s legendary 2.5L Inline 6 for power/torque delivery and responsiveness characteristics and is darn near as smooth at every RPM. Anyway the extra information I wanted to add is that on picking up the car a different service guy said that it is a different/new part that has been fitted and that Mazda have extended the warranty on the original part to 10 years/200000km.

Mazda is jerking us around until the warranty expires. This car will be nearly worthless when I pay it off because if it burns oil that bad brand new, it's going to require weekly oil changes by then. Ive been a Mazda guy for decades. This is may last.

According to Mazda, the 2.0-liter SkyActiv-X delivers up to 30 percent more torque than the equivalent SkyActiv-G 2.0 unit while reducing fuel consumption by as much as 30 percent.
