When you use a Game.dat crack the version number becomes 0.2142 or something like that and the result is the two versions do no longer match. Ok then write "regedit" into your windows searchbar to open the registry editor. Go to the following folder and delete it: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king Also delete this one if it is there: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\The Battle for Middle-earth II Re: BFME 1 Exception Access Violation Try uninstalling it, searchign you're PC for every file relating to that game, delte them all, reboot, check for files again, if some have come back get some swiping software, if there aren't any files relating to the game, install it again (don't click custom install ect just let the automated install run) see what happens then. Like The Lord of the Rings The Battle for Middle-Earth 2, it worked on 7 and 8 with some tweaking by the modders, but on Windows 10 no fix has been found, it just can't run some reason, which is a crying shame since it's the best RTS games out there, I don't know what change made between windows 7, 8 , and 10 made the game unable to run, but Go to Library in Steam. Locate the title in your list of games, right-click it, and select Properties. Click the Local Files tab. From here, select “Verify Integrity of Game Files”. If needed you can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the game: Open Steam and click on Library. Right-click the game and select Uninstall.
